Julius A. Rippel

"We must have substantially new manners of thinking to enable mankind to bridge the gap between the things that have been
and the things that will be."
1961

While it was with fortune and
foresight that Julius S. Rippel
established the Fannie E. Rippel Foundation in honor of his wife,
it was his nephew, Julius
Alexander Rippel, who
breathed life into the
Foundation. Julius A.
served as President from
1953 until he retired in 1983.
During those 30 years, he
propelled the Foundation
to a position of quality
and respect that
reached far beyond

Dartmouth Atlas

Dr. Elliott Fisher

"Where knowledge informs change."

While most analysts predict that we will spend more as a nation on healthcare
once the uninsured gain coverage
and begin consuming more care,
the visionary scientists behind
the Dartmouth Atlas predict
"that covering everyone will
have a much smaller impact
on the trend in healthcare
costs, provided that
capacity is not increased."

How can this be true?

Albert Einstein said,
"The world we have created is a product of our thinking;
it cannot be changed without changing our thinking."

The Trustees of the Fannie E. Rippel Foundation
believe that major advances will only come from
substantially new ways of thinking about
maintaining people’s health, as well
as how we define, structure, and
deliver healthcare. New paradigms
are needed to embrace the
wholeness of the individual,
the power of science,
and the challenging
dynamics of our
healthcare system
in the global world
of medicine.

Our mission is to strategically invest our limited resources to seed innovation, catalyze change, and create model processes that will lead to improvements in health.
