From a design perspective, the logo is innovative and represents a departure from traditional logo designs. Graphically, it is strong and solid, as well as free-flowing and flexible with a positive, upwardly-sweeping motion. The lines are elegant and gentle, yet well-grounded with a focused direction. The colors of the logo were carefully chosen to be both natural and elegant to add contrast and balance.
The logo’s concept embodies the spirit of the Fannie E. Rippel Foundation. From one perspective, the crisscrossing upper lines are representative of the double helix of human DNA, while the simple arc below represents Earth or nature. It is meant to illustrate Humankind and Earth in balance. While the shapes differ, they move together in an upward and forward motion.
From another perspective, the crisscrossing upper lines could be seen as a modern representation of the classic medical symbol of the Caduceus, or the Staff of Asclepius, with the arc representing the Earth or Humankind below.
Yet, unlike the classical medical symbols which are more rigid, this logo is flexible and flowing.
The logo represents a balance with nature and upward, positive movement.
And, a third perspective is that the
lines simply represent different paths,
all moving together in one positive
direction. In all of these perspectives,
the subliminal emotional message is
one of balance, contrast, and a
focused, positive upward movement.
